Posted: Friday, November 06, 2009

Vietnam’s trade deficit is forecast to be between US$11.5 billion and US$12.5 billion this year, down from US$17.516 billion in 2008.

The figures will represent between 20.35% and 22.12% of the country’s estimated export value in 2009, domestic economists said at an online meeting of the industry and trade sector on Nov. 3.

The country is forecast to earn US$56.5 billion from exports in 2009, down 9.9% on-year and spend between US$68 billion and US$69 billion on imports, down 15.44% and 14.2% on-year,

Vietnam reaped US$46.34 billion from exported goods and imported US$55.12 billion worth of goods in the first ten months of this year, down 13.8% and 21.7%, respectively, from a year earlier, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said. (Labor, GSO)
